Payment & Refund Policy

Last updated: September 1st, 2026Approximately 7 minutes

This Payment & Refund Policy applies to all bookings made through MyMuute. By booking a musician or musical act through our platform, you agree to the terms below.

Terms navigation

1. Payment Structure

MyMuute offers two payment options:

  • Full Payment Upfront (Recommended) — Pay the full booking amount at the time of booking. This guarantees your date and gives our team the most time to prepare your musician(s).
  • Deposit + Balance — Pay a 70% deposit to secure your date, with the remaining balance due no later than 72 hours before your event.

In all cases, full payment must be completed before the event takes place. MyMuute does not accept payment after an event has occurred.

2. How Your Payment Is Held (Escrow)

  • You are protected; your money is not paid out until your event happens.
  • MyMuute carries the responsibility of coordinating and paying musicians, so you don't have to.
  • You can book with confidence, without needing a direct financial relationship with the performer(s).

3. Cancellations & Refunds (Client-Initiated)

  • Cancellations made more than 72 hours before your event: Eligible for a refund of the full booking amount, less a non-refundable 10% service fee covering booking and administrative costs.
  • Cancellations made within 72 hours of your event: Not eligible for a refund, as musicians have already been confirmed, prepared, and blocked out for your date.

Refund requests must be submitted in writing to bookings@mymuute.com and will be reviewed within 24 to 48 hours.

4. Rescheduling

If you need to move your event to a new date rather than cancel outright, please contact us as early as possible. Where a musician's availability allows, MyMuute will make reasonable efforts to move your existing payment to the new date at no extra charge, subject to the same 72-hour notice window above. Reschedule requests made within 72 hours of the original event will be treated as a cancellation under Section 3.

5. Unrecoverable Costs

Where a booking involves costs already incurred on the Client's behalf, including but not limited to rehearsals held, costumes, materials, or other preparatory expenses, the value of those costs is non-refundable, regardless of when the cancellation is made. Only the portion of the booking fee not yet spent on such costs remains eligible for a refund under the standard policy.

6. Cancellations Initiated by MyMuute or the Musician

  • We will first attempt to secure a suitable replacement musician of comparable standard, at no extra cost to you.
  • If no suitable replacement can be arranged and you do not wish to proceed, you will receive a full refund, regardless of how close to the event date this occurs.

7. No-Shows

  • If a booked musician fails to show up for a confirmed and fully paid booking, you are entitled to a full refund. MyMuute will then investigate the matter with the musician directly.
  • If the Client is not available at the agreed time and location for a confirmed booking, this is treated as a client-initiated cancellation and is subject to Section 3 above.

8. Retainer & Recurring Bookings

This section applies to Clients on a recurring retainer arrangement (e.g. restaurants and establishments booking weekly or ongoing performances).

  • Payment & Escrow: Retainer payments are processed on the agreed billing cycle. Each individual performance is treated as its own booking for escrow purposes; the relevant portion is held until after that specific performance has taken place.
  • Skipped or Cancelled Performances: Advance notice of 7 days is required to skip a scheduled performance. Performances skipped with sufficient notice will not be charged or will be credited toward a future date, at MyMuute's discretion. Performances cancelled without sufficient notice are forfeited and non-refundable.
  • Ending a Retainer Arrangement: Either party may end an ongoing retainer by providing 14 days' written notice. Performances already scheduled and confirmed within that notice period remain payable. Amounts paid for performances not yet rendered will be refunded, less unrecoverable costs and any applicable service fee.
  • Musician Unavailability: If the assigned musician cannot make a scheduled performance, MyMuute will first attempt to provide a suitable substitute. If no substitute is available, that performance will not be charged or will be credited toward a future date, at the Client's preference.

9. Force Majeure

Where an event cannot proceed due to circumstances beyond either party's reasonable control (e.g. natural disaster, government restrictions, civil unrest, extreme security incidents), MyMuute will work with the Client in good faith to reschedule the event or issue an appropriate refund if warranted, assessed on a case-by-case basis.

10. How to Request a Refund
